After the powerful Iridium synthesizer in a compact desktop format, we continue the concept with the Iridium keyboard. The Iridium keyboard features a new FATAR TP/8SK keyboard with 49 semi-weighted polyphonic aftertouch keys, which is used for the first time in the Iridium keyboard. The extended front panel provides one-button-per-function operation, greatly improving the workflow of this high-quality synthesizer and offers six freely programmable macro buttons that can be used to set functions from a wide range of features for additional control performs.
Impressive tonal changes are possible when playing live on the Iridium keyboard, as polyphonic aftertouch can be used individually for each note played. In other words: the pressure of each finger affects the individual keys and thus creates e.g. B. individual modulations per key, while with monophonic aftertouch all played notes react in the same way.
With a powerful modulation matrix that offers 40 independent modulation assignments with individual source, amount and destination settings, Iridium Keyboard has powerful modulation options. In addition, the Iridium keyboard can also process MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) data and thus control multiple parameters of different notes separately, so that the playing feeling is more like that of an acoustic instrument in terms of dynamic sound control and polyphonic.
The Iridium keyboard's 851mm (W) x 355mm (D) x 110mm (H) dimensions resulted in notable differences from the Iridium desktop design. Due to the larger housing, each button is responsible for one function. This is supported by the highly responsive touchscreen, which provides an interactive page preview of the selected mode (via the associated LFOS, OSC 1, OSC 2, OSC 3, FILTERS, MOD and EFFECTS buttons), parameter changes and additional information. In addition to the pitch and modulation wheels, the Iridium keyboard has six freely programmable macro keys that allow the user to set functions from a wide range of functions for additional performance control, thereby increasing the capabilities of the device.
Iridium Keyboard - with its design influenced by Axel Hartmann - is another direct descendant of the legendary PPG Wave synthesizer series, which made the distinctive sound of wavetable synthesis accessible to the general public in the 80s and thus occupied an important place in the history of the German synthesizer. development. Musically speaking, however, the Iridium keyboard - like the Iridium desktop synthesizer - offers much more than its famous ancestor: it offers five different synthesis models for each of its three oscillators: Wavetable - which consists of cycled waveforms unique ; Waveform (virtual analog) – a standard oscillator model for generating typical analog waveforms; Particle (sampling and granular sampling) – allows in-depth manipulation of sample-based sounds; Resonator - manipulates multi-samples from internal sample flash memory (2 GB) or noise via an exciter and various, unrivaled, modulated spectral parameters to create impressive animated sounds, e.g. B. can be easily integrated into a Eurorack modular synthesizer environment via the Iridium keyboard's built-in control voltage connections (CV In1, CV In2, CV In3 and CV In4). One oscillator can be converted into up to six sub-oscillators, which can be connected together via audio-frequency FM and arranged in user-definable constellations.
Other imaginative features include three digital filters with a true stereo path per voice, which convincingly cover all imaginable classic filter variations - in addition, the FORMER section offers various digital filters such as comb filters, high filters Classic Waldorf and the bandpass and notch filters of our software synthesizers. Largo and Nave as well as PPG models, plus signal enhancement effects such as Drive and Bit Crusher and much more. Six envelopes, six LFOs and more are available as sources in the mod matrix, which can be routed to almost any digital value in Iridium Keyboard.
The Iridium keyboard has two audio inputs (for processing external signals), CV inputs as well as Gate In and Trigger In (for transmitting external signals to the Mod Matrix), Clock In and Clock Out (for synchronization with other devices), USB - and DIN MIDI, a USB host port (for MIDI devices and for managing data exchange), inputs for control and sustain pedals, a headphone output (with sound own volume control) and two audio outputs.
